TASTEMAKER EDITION: DELIA ATENEA HICKMAN OF MOMMA LOVES FASHION BLOG

We absolutely love Delia's sense of chic, sophisticated and minimalistic style! From her daily  instagram and TikTok posts of her wearing the most stunning power pant suits, cocktail dresses to showing us how to style a graphic t-shirt several ways and making it all look super elegant with an edge...there is nothing this fashion maven cannot style wrong! Yes, Delia can make a simple cotton Tee elegant! Its amazing! We were so happy to have our founder and creative director Dara Senders sit down with this style taste maker to hear all about her beginnings and how she got into fashion blogging; plus a fun rapid fire question round!

TSDE: Where did you grow up and where are you currently based?

DAH: I was born and raised in in Laredo, TX (border town between US and Mexico) but my entire family is from Mexico. I was basically raised with  Mexican culture but benefiting from the US culture as well.

TDSE: When did you start Momma Loves Fashion Blog and why?

DAH: I worked in Banking/ Finance (corporate) right out of college for a few years but I always felt like it was not my “dream” to work there forever.  After being promoted to an International Banking Vice President position I quit my job and quickly began learning photography.  I did that for a couple years and of course had 5 babies in-between. During this time I decided to try posting some of my outfits on Instagram to see what would happen. Slowly but surely the fear of what people would think of me doing this completely left me... and I love what I do today!

TDSE: What are some of your favorite trends at the moment?

DAH: Feathers! Oversized Blazers! Loafers! Sneakers! Platforms heels! High waisted straigth cropped jeans

TDSE: Take us through an average day in the life of Delia!

DAH: Wake up, get all the kids ready for school, take them to school, come back home, sometimes grab a coffee, go for a run, have my quiet time where I read the Bible and pray, send and reply to emails, check my social media and engage for a little bit and post whatever needs to be posted, create video content (about 3 times a week), cook dinner, pick up kids from school, and I try to make time a couple times a month to grab lunch with friends.

TDSE: If you could have any items in the Dara Senders collections, what would they be and how would you style them?  (click on photo above to shop the looks)

• Andie Blazers: This blazer is so chic! I’m obsessed with the sleeves! I would wear this with some black fitted flair pants/ trousers or with faux leather leggings
  
• Caroline Pashmina - (Gray): A good neutral scarf/ pashmina is always a closet staple and can be used in so many ways.  Right now I’d wear this one with a black wool coat whether I’m dressing it up or down.
• Dani Dress: I love this dress because it gives me some major summer vibes! I would wear it with cute heels and dress it up with some nice jewelry and a clutch for date night or I would wear it with some cute trendy sandals for daytime.
• Gourmet Love & Merci Beaucoup Sweatshirt and Tshirts:  I love the simplicity of these tops! They are so comfy and you can wear them with jeans or with a tulle skirt and heels as seen above in the photo!
• Miriam Turtle Neck - This top in all Black is so dramatic and gives diva vibes!!! I’d totally wear this out at night with some cute split hem fitted pants and black heels! Or with a cute black mini skirt!
  

TDSE: Top 3 Favorite and Top 3 Bucket List Vacation destinations. 

DAH: Favorite: Paris, Aspen, Los Cabos / Bucket List: Italy, Spain, Greece, Croatia, Almafi Coast (again Italy), Israel!

TDSE: How does your family inspire you to keep going with your amazing work as an influencer? 

DAH: First of all when you have 5 kids you definitely need to do something you love for yourself because then you’ll feel like you’re not losing your identity. My husband inspires me so much because every single dream I’ve ever spoken to about to him, he is always 100% supportive and loves to dream with me! We both have a “nothing is impossible” mentality.

TDSE: How would you describe your style?

DAH: I love minimalistic style (like a black oversized blazer, black leggings, black lugg sole boots) but I sometimes get in the the mood to wear feathers, heels, or a Versace type colorful printed dress! It depends on my mood but I definitely always gravitate towards minimalistic style!

TDSE: A staple clothing in your closet that never goes out of style? 

DAH: Black motto jacket, Black chanel classic flap bag

TDSE: What advise would you give to anyone wanting to make it as an influencer?

DAH: Leave your fear behind and literally start posting content even if you’re scared because fear will end up leaving you.  

TDSE: Favorite personal fashion industry memory?

DAH: My first ever NYFW and all the NYFW’s I’ve been to since!
